Operating Instructions

The Bible - My Owner's Manual for Living Life | NeverThirsty

Aloha Dearest   Family,

About a year ago I bought my first ‘smart phone”. Before that I had a cheap flip phone which served my purposes quite nicely. I didn’t really use it for anything important, just to make a phone call every once in a while.  But it was very limited. It didn’t have internet access capabilities and it had a terrible camera. Well, after much urging and prodding on the part of my sons, we decided to buy a new smart phone - not a very expensive one and one that wasn’t too complicated.  My wife told me that if I bought it I would need to read the instructions and learn to use it. I said that I would.

Little did I know how extensive the instructions were for the phone that I bought. I started from the beginning and tried to understand some of what I was reading. Thankfully, as I kept reading, it started to make more sense and I didn’t feel so intimidated. If I simply read the instruction manual I could pretty much program my phone any way I felt comfortable. My sons had to help me just a few times in showing me how to do a few things. I had now entered the world of modern technology. Yay!!

Contrary to popular opinion, life did not start with a “big-bang.” The “theory” that we all evolved from amebas to fish to monkeys to humans (ridiculous) - takes a great deal of malarkey and unprovable facts to swallow. Yet too many do swallow it. On the other hand, if you try to teach that the universe was planned and put in motion by a designer, you will be ridiculed and ostracized from many in the academic and scientific circles. The truth of the matter is that God Almighty is the originator and grand designer of all life. How do I know? God told me so in the Bible – His instruction manual.

God is the Creator.  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1) God being the originator and manufacturer of life, He had to come up with a way to communicate to His creation who they were designed to be and their purpose. So He chose certain men, who He placed His spirit upon, to write down His Will in words they could understand and that would communicate the purpose for mankind. These words became the Bible we know today. The Bible not only shows us our purpose but also reveals to us God, the Creator.

The reason why men and women seem so lost today is that they don’t know who they were originally designed to be. They wander around through life trying to find meaning to their lives. This will lead them to believe philosophies and ideas of men, who are just as lost as they are. To most, life is about acquiring things that give them some temporary pleasure. Yet it will never fill the deep longing in their souls. This longing can only be filled by coming to know the Creator and finding their true purpose.  They will only find it in the pages of the Bible – true life’s guide.

As if God’s instruction manual for mankind wasn’t enough, God sent a “factory representative”, Jesus Christ, to show us what God’s creation was all about.  His showed us what this thing called life could really be like.  Jesus Christ not only showed us who the designer was, but he also showed man’s purpose as well. This is why if you want to come to God, you have to come through God’s son. There is no other way.  How do I know? It says so in the Bible.

Most importantly, the Bible, God’s operation instructions, reveals God’s great love for us, His creation.
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,  even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),” (Ephesians 2:4 and 5)
                                                                                Love Always, Ray
